National Cherry Blossom Festival Poster

Years ago I was looking for something fun to create and came across the National Cherry Blossom Festival website and saw they were taking artwork submissions for their poster contest. Each year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo to Washington, DC. and honors the lasting friendship between the two countries. This was the perfect change of pace I was looking for from my day job and I thought the concept would be challenging. I never submitted my poster design back then, but did rework the poster last year for the festival's 106th anniversary.
